Dear Laurie,
I suggest that you get out of the '80's and get into the '90's.
They have just recently discovered a possible planet, and there
are indications that there are others, out beyond the solar system.
 Biologists were not looking then but they are now, as the science
progresses to a higher state of the art.
There is no hard evidence that aliens have ever visited the earth
unless there is a conspiracy cover-up, and it is being shrouded from
us.
There is some interesting photographic evidence that a certain design of
a technologically advanced type of craft is intelligently operated,
and is repeated again and again at different locations indicating a common
origin, which so far has not been proven to have originated from a
factory here on earth.
There are indications that we have or are being visited by alien life-forms
of a high intelligence based on reports which have a world wide source
and a common similar description.
The mathematical probability that life exists elsewhere is too great to
be able to accept the statement that you quoted as being an absolute
certainty.
I would suggest that you open your mind up a little and think about it,
and in the end I'm sure that at least you will be forced into accepting
it at least as a possibility. This at least will allow you more breaking
distance if you are forced to slam on the brakes, when the driver in
front of you stops to look at a UFO passing by over the highway. :-)
Then, at least you will live to be able to see it yourself.
