Dear Matrika,
Work up your nerve, and express what you said on this echo at
the meeting. Not all conflicts are to be avoided. If they kick
you out your HP may have something better in store for you. As
you know it is a good idea to avoid seedy environments, whatever
label they use. There is a saying: You cannot cheat an honest woman.
How It Works stresses the value of honesty. How much good is it
doing you to go to a AA meeting which soils you? You are going there
for your recovery. If you leave feeling worse, stay home and read
the Big Book. Or make an effort to change things; empower yourself.
Remember to investigate this situation first by talking to someone
else in the group with some time, preferably a woman. And also make
these suggestions into options...you will need to decide. Also more,
I think Elaine L, and Jane K are good people to listen to and female.
Those old men feel very lonely and unloved and fairly worthless. So
they try to be big fish in a small pond. Compassion can be empowering.
Happy Trails,
Stephen
