Hi Rod, [Thus spake Rod Speed unto Sunny Leung:] PL> S39=9 S56=2 PC> ~~~ ^^^^^ PC> What does the S39 reg do PL> Sets the signal level. SL> I've put the two S-register settings into my init SL> string and can't really notice any difference. They SL> haven't screwed things up so I've kept them in my config. RS> Thats probably not a terrific idea if they dont help. V34 is MEANT RS> to be able to intelligently adjust the Tx level when appropriate RS> and its not really a very good idea to disable that if it doesnt help. I've removed the string from my setup. I've had no problems with v.34 connects after using this string but for some reason it causes my Courier to behave very strangely with a v.FC modem at the Sydney PCUG BBS. The ARQ light flashes or even turns off, and nothing gets transmitted or received. After removing the string, connects with this particular modem are OK even though it's one level slower (i.e. 21.6 instead of 24.0k). Sunny ...
