Hi Steve,

That's something I had mis-remembered about with my Motorola card - it 
too was formatted FAT12 - but a VFAT-12, so that long filenames were 
there in the same way as on FAT32. I think most cameras though tend to 
make the filenames of e.g. JPGs fit into 8.3, with 4-5 digit consecutive 
numerical values embedded. If you look at the actual directory with a 
disk editor you'll probably see the unicode directory names - 
particularly all the longname hidden ones.
