With cockatiels the prefilter stays clean about two days. Even with
three of the big envirocaire filters going I still clean the house
heater/air conditioner filters once a week. The plumber was nice enough
to have a metal filter made for the return to capture the first wave of
'too dust and that I can wash under a spigot or hose. Then it goes to
the electrostatic filter, which is also washable. At that, you could
still write your name on any given piece of furniture many times.
