Sounds like you (meaning the EU as a collective) need to join the rest 
of the world... NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) kicked in at 
least 15 years ago, if I'm not mistaken, and eliminated all taxes and 
duties on most consumer products.  Things like textiles and lumber are 
still under dispute, but there's no duty on computer parts, which means 
I can ship into the USA without much hassle, and my clients don't pay 
duties...

If I import, I pay a 14% tax on goods for my own consumption, 6% federal 
tax on goods for resale - that's it.


Anyway - this is wandering from the topic...  I'll not add more to this.
