subject: Politicans re-thinking

05-08-05 19:58, Peter Coggon told James Bradley about Politicans re-thinking

 How do, Peter?

PC> Hope you are enjoying the weekend where ever you are...

Seeing as it's Wednesday...

Come to think about it, Ya... Not bad for a Friday.

I have a pain situation creeping up on me, so I'll have to be too brief today.

-=> Quoting James Bradley to Peter Coggon <=-

PC> I used to live on Bayview Avenue in Toronto...beside Sunnybrooke
PC> Hospital. They once tried to cut out a benefit to the war vets in
PC> there, and if the neighbourhood hadn't turned out to support our vets
PC> our Government would have taken a benefit away. It was a sick thing
PC> they tried, considering these vets were bed ridden.

Of course, in Alberta Ralph tends to do that with everyone. A nurse here
was 'pink-slipped' *four* times, just to be rehired again. Her wage
remained the same, but it took our Tories that much bureaucracy to figure
out they couldn't cut to the bone and not expect bleeding.

PC> Yes our WW2 vets are better treated in Holland then here...Agreed!
PC> And again I agree they all should be attending all these ceremonys.
PC> I also would like to see even civilian vets serving in the merchant
PC> marine given their dues too!

...And that's another sore spot. Sure, sailors were paid more than a grunt,
but they also had somewhere like 133% of the attrition rate of the same.

JB> Do you think there would be any lack of billets to house and feed
JB> them? Cripes, there would be fist fights for the honour!

PC> Darn right on there James! No doubt about that!

And yet, PM Paul, knew nothing about add-scam? Perjury, or what? Maybe he
never lied to a court or commission, (I never followed it much.) but he
sure lied to his constituents - namely you and me for starters. I once
heard a commentator point out, that the US elects a president, and he can
do no wrong in his duties. In Canada, we elect a PM, and we *expect*
him/her to be a crook.

JB> On the political front, what's your solution. ("None of the above"
 JB> doesn't count.)

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the following. I too have no fixes, and
have no idea how this popularity contest/cult of personality quagmire is
fixable.

Brian M would ask his advisors *first thing*, "What are the boys
saying?" Referring to the media, and I suspect in reference to when
there were no women in the work force. How this is wrong in so many ways, I
can not to begin to put into words. Jean C was our biggest liar, and how
many terms did he "serve?" Ya... We were served alright!

We need another Tommy Douglas. But who am I fooling? He never
left Saskatchewan, didn't he?

PC> James...If I had the answer to that I would be most satisfied. My
 PC> father is a true-blue Tory...no matter what he'd vote Tory...here or
PC> back in the UK where he did vote for Churchill. And my dad and I
PC> argued over politics many a time...as to who I was going to vote for.
PC> I even admit when I was younger...my dad influenced me a lot to support
PC> even in public school the Torys under Dief the Chief....even to the
PC> bitter end. Oh geez James where do I start in this mess?
 PC>
PC> You have the Bloc only representing Quebec, and only with one aim to
PC> take Quebec out of Confederation .... Then there was the Reform party
PC> seemingly centered out west...and it did seem they
PC> were only representing the western interests...And they are right to
PC> do this...as only to Ontario does Ottawa's parliament seem to care.
PC> Now Reform and the Torys have merged to form whatever Conservatives
PC> and perhaps bring the western interests back in...As for the Liberals
PC> well they are mired in Sponsorgate...so I think the Boys on Bay Street
PC> since they bankroll the Torys or Liberal to carry out their agenda
PC> will go this time for the Torys and Stephen Harper to govern.
PC> As for the NDP...well from what I see...and after a Tory or Liberal
PC> association meeting..it seems those still wanting to be in parliament
PC> will approach the NDP to support them in the campaign. All the
PC> other partys below this really are not national in scope nor a part
PC> of the scene so they don't count. The Bloc...well since they are
PC> only in Quebec...I can not see why everyone is so scared of them?
PC> To get this blackmail every 5 years is a annoying PIA.!!

PC> No James...I have no solutions...Only complaints. Any further passed
PC> this point, and the basketweaver laws would be on me for picking
PC> on the distinct society. Thank goodness Eliass Harper a First
PC> Nations MPP when he went in the Manitoba house carried a feather with
PC> him indicating he was in for a struggle....and in his victory...they
PC> blamed the Newfie...cause its okay to blame a WASP.

PC> The more we get close to seeing Martin's government fall the more
PC> I am not interested and just abstaining from voting for anyone.
PC> Oh well....hope you can find what you want and they fill your needs
PC> and you get to vote. Thanks for the message.
 PC>
 PC> Peter

 PC> ... "I wouldn't even vote for myself"...I'd want life to rule
