Hi Kris.
On Saturday March 02 1996, Kris Roebuck wrote to All ...
KR> What is the meaning of /bis/ in protocols such as V.32bis?
bis is a French term meaning "an extension to" (not literally --
I haven't studied French in a long long time).
KR> If V.22 means 1200bps, V.22bis means 2400bps, and V.32 means 9600bps,
KR> does this mean V.32bis should really be 19200 and not 14400?
Nope. :-) 19200 is typically expressed as V.32terbo (AT&T implementation).
KR> Who was responsible for developing and releasing the V.fc standard?
Rockwell in combination with several modem manufacturers.
KR> Why is 33000bps referred to as V.34+ and not V.34bis?
Because the ITU-T (formerly known as the CCITT) has not ratified V.34bis
as an international standard for 33600 bps.

... Misspelled? Impossible. My modem is error correcting!
