Actually, most of the planes that I've seen at garage sales around here
needed a lot of work to get them in good condition.  Plus there is a lot of
the little junk stuff floating around that should never have been made in
the first place and the only thing that may (and in planes from less than
30 years or so, not good) have good irons in them that can be put into a
wood plane frame.
