LE>> Rockwell implemented that in ATI4. The majority of modems support that LE>> caps string. But the algorithm to interpret it is _very_ complex. db> ati4 db> V2.61L Fri Jul 28 11:51:10 1995 db> OK db> What am I missing here, Lewin? :-) A modem which supports the feature (I did say, 'the majority'). The firmware in the SmartModems runs on a Motorola 68302FE20 processor, which is a 16/32-bit 68000-family device, nothing like the Rockwell C39/C40 (an 8-bit R6502-based device) used in pure Rockwell modems. They don't emulate all the features. Type ATI4 on an Askey, a Diamond, a Birch, an Ellcon, a Best, a Hayes, a Microcom, .... and you'll get a few caps strings. -- Lewin A.R.W.
