The first three numbers specify the refractive index, namely 1.523. The last three digits specify the Abbe number, namely 58.6. When I leafed through the glass catalog in the back of Rutten & Venrooij, it seems to be a close match to K5, a relatively inexpensive crown. You need a flint like F2 (620-364) to pair with this to make an achromat. The methodology for designing doublets is pretty straightforward, and can be done with a simple spreadsheet.
