I am thinking about dovetailing in a piece of solid stock at all of the
joints, then dovetailing the solid stock so that no plywood end grain
shows.

Well it seems that the jury is still out. I am comfortable with all of the
mentioned methods as I have used all of them on one piece of furniture or
another that I have built. I was planning on using Gurilla Glue (Urethane)
if I did go ahead with finger joints. I like the way it sands easily, takes
stain, and that "wierd foaming" action fills in the gaps where
your joints aren't quite perfect.
I guess I just loathe the look of plywood endgrain and was looking for a
way to conceal it in the joinery so that at first glance, it looked like it
was made from hardwood. I am still considering a spline miter, but I am not
sure if it is strong enough. Anyone else used that type of joint on a
mirror or rocker box with success?
