subject: MIDI and Steve ReMORSE

JM> GM> If memory serves you're the fellow that lives next door to Mr.
JM> GM> Tumeni Notes, right?
JM>I live about an hour and a half away from him and Dave LaRue. Hardly
JM>a neighbor. I know Dave real well. Only met Steve once, though.
JM> GM> I recently found a cache of Steve Morse midi files on a site in
JM> GM> Australia that also had some Satriani...
JM> GM> The beauty of this is that you can use whatever software to slow
JM> GM> down the piece and conquer the stuff and gradually bring it up
JM> GM> to speed... It's a great method, and what once was
JM> GM> insurmountable is now just more repertoire!
JM>How do you play MIDI files if you don't have a keyboard?
All you need is an MPU 401 card into say, a sound canvas, or most sound
cards can handle midi now-really any module-but for most stuff on the
net it's GS, or General Midi.
-you can d/l the virtual canvas from roland's site if you have a P100 or
greater.
The crack is floating around too, (ahem) if you want to hear tunes for
more than 50 seconds...
Ask Gilmore about it. He has one of the larger Spice Girl midi
collections around, I'm sure.
JM> GM> So, Jim, if I learned all of Steve's tunes, would he have me in
JM> GM> his band?-no harm in asking...hurry up and ask yer neighbour
JM> GM> before ALL the arthritis sets in, K?
JM>Oh sure! I'll ask him. Right after I ask him to mow my lawn ;)
Sorry man, wrong guy.
Blackmore's looking for work-and I don't think cutting the grass is
above him...
