Why stay with a solid tube then? Most people would think truss at that
point. Your design will get more difficult as the size increases. Tube
stiffness, or sag, will affect collimation. Even if it is a smaller tube,
be prepared to recollimate every time you set up.
Just throwing these out for you to consider. Please, no flames on how I am
trying to stiffle inovation. The truss design was an inovation to solve
the need for cutting the tube in two. ;-) It become a question of making
something work when there may be a better, easier solution at hand.
