| subject: | USR Sportster, I`m impressed. |
Once upon a time, Peter Sureda spoke thus to Tony Molina:
TM> However this USR Sportster V34 has blown me away in this test.
TM> I'll be the first to admit I have no idea how it can manage to
TM> stay online at 28,800 on this line where the others can't.
[ ..]
PS> Looks like you've discovered the advantage of having a modem with a
PS> decent datapump .
I've also discovered that when downloading files from this BBS
(Melb PC), I am now getting CPS rates closer to what I was led to
expect with 28.8k.
With the other 28.8k modems I've used, I averaged around 2800 cps
with compressed files. With the USR, I'm getting over 3200 cps.
This is unusual because as far as I know, the Melbpc BBS haven't
changed anything on their side recently (using rack mounted
V34 Netcomms I believe).
To any Melbpc BBS users reading this , what CPS rates do you
average on compressed files during 28,800 connects?
Adios,
