I haven't had occasion to use my CDROM drive for a while, and just now 
encountered a strange problem with it:  When I insert a CDROM disk, 
the light on the drive flashes for a moment and then it ejects the 
disk.  Initially this happened with a new CDROM; but older ones that 
worked in the past do the same thing.

Any ideas about what might be happening here, or suggestions on how to 
trouble-shoot the problem?  WAGs gratefully accepted.
