| subject: | M11F and USR V.34+ |
JP>>> Has anyone who is connecting a NetComm M11F with a USR V.34+ JP>>> noticed that the connect speeds is always 26400? I have not been LE>>> Amazing. I never managed to get an M11F to connect using V.FC, I LE>>> always had to lock down to V.32bis. Interstate, intrastate, or LE> It can't be my line because : LE> (a) it happens on all the lines into my house (not that that's much of a LE> test) LE> (b) to non-USR modems, my M11F gets great connects. LE> which indicate clearly to me that a USR is not to be trusted if you're LE> timed rates for the call, unless both ends are USR. I proved that it is the lines, back at the begining of the year when I was in FNQ. I dial a Maestro every day from home and used to get 28800 most of the time, with a Supra. With a Courier I would only get 26400 all the time. (but solid) With other rockwells I get 26400 most of the time and some 28800 as well and dropouts all the time. When I was up north I got 28800 to that same Maestro everytime (If you don't remember the stats & tests that I did from those PERFECT lines I can repost them (I have about 40 pages of them to all different types of modems and lines) using the Courier. Courier to Microcom, netcom, Maestro was always 28800. No settings , software or hardware changed at all. JUST THE LINES changed. Now back at home at the moment I can't miss getting 28800 to the Maestro with the USR (rock solid) BUT I do get 26400 and the rare 28800 to it using a rockwell with dropouts all the time. NOTHING CHANGED AGAIN. Except maybe Telstra are fiddling with lines somewhere. IT HAS TO BE THE LINES. I'm sold. The boats great , the water has holes in it.
