Dan:
In your continuiing chat with Murray, you mentioned...
DC=>Sounds like there are really working their way towards the
DC=>interior...
A big part of the problem of them getting into the "interior" lakes and
such was people with trailerable boats... if they hauled a boat out of
infested water and then launched it in another body of water the same
day, the little suckers were hardy enough to withstand the trip!
DC=> MC> So, I'm told, you end up with very clear water, but few living
hings

Yup - that they do; but the other drawback with the "exceptionally"
clear water is that light gets down to the weeds which are now growing
like little forests down there... complete with colourful flowers on
them! The weeds, in turn, will stop a boat from moving either by
wrapping themselves around a keel or diminishing your propeller blades
into a swirling cone of useless green stuff!
DC=>Haven't heard recently, but I guess that has been a big problem
DC=>in NYS around Niagra Falls area.
No worse than anywhere else around the lake... a bunch of us were in
Youngstown this past weekend and, for lack of anything better to talk
about (we'd already discussed the weather ), we stood around the edge
of the dock and looked at all the BIG weeds growing down there.
