And so it came to pass, on 06-09-97 08:06,
that Bonnie Goodwin spake unto Matt Ion:
BG> Hi Matt!
->> BG> The pin outs of a Cannon XLR type connector are: 1= Ground 2=
->> BG> + 3= - Hope this helps!
->> You forgot to say "usually". Of course, some equipment reverses the
->> + and - connections... no doubt, just to be different.
BG> How ya been doing, Matt? Been a long time!
Not really... I've been lurking here, just hasn't been much to spark my
interest. Exotic turntables and esoteric guitar-amp tubes aren't really my
thing :-)
BG> Of course, your comments are correct, there's always someone that
BG> can't follow a standard and thus are "out of phase" with everybody
BG> else!
I'm sure those pin-three-hot guys would say the same about "us". Alas,
there's no real way to point a finger -- someone once mentioned to me that
"pin three hot" was a European thing, but then there are some European
manufacturers who use pin two, and some "new worlders" who use pin 3... in my
experience, pin-two-hot equipment only slightly outweighs the pin-three
stuff, so it can't really be considered an anomaly.
Of course, some people seem to have to be different just for the sake of
being different... not mentioning any names *coughJBLhackSPEAKERSwheeze!*
