While your mother's maiden name might not show up, if you check phone
records for the last name of McCann (especially in Pt. Orchard, WA.)
you might come up with one of her brothers.  If you don't have access
to phone discs let me know and I will run the names for you.  Depending
upon religion she was, you might check the churches in the area for
baptismal records; and the clergy there might be able to enlighten you
as to the family.  You might be able to check the Motor vehicle 
records.  If you explain your situation, they might tell you at least 
if there is a bonnie > McCann with a driver's license.  Good luck and
