Don't forget that the pivots of a wiffletree in a mirror cell move
significantly only for an instant, when you first plop the mirror in place
(or after a ride in the car), and that motion doesn't matter. After the
mirror is seated the pivots move only the tiniest bit, when the telescope
motion and gravity distort the cell. In a decent cell these operational
angles change probably are on the order of microdegrees. I betcha a
compliant pivot like RTV has less spring over an angle of microdegrees than
the stiction of a wobbly pivot produces.
