   It would be hard to get good volunteer help to span 24 hours.    Some
other countries allow voting over the internet.   The extra convenience
would throw in an interesting twist - perhaps attracting the interest of
the 17-34 age range which had no increased participation in this election.
The overall participation might be higher because of the greater
convenience.    Those without internet access would continue to go to
traditional polling places.  Election officials would issue each voter a
certificate which would ensure 1 person  1 vote.

  The downside of internet-based elections appears to be too great to
overcome at this point.   Spoofing, Trojans+Viruses, vote buying, network
DOS are just the start of problems to  overcome. Even the hard core
researchers have not proposed any internet-based election systems that can
equal the fairness, auditability, and privacy of the  punch card system.
