subject: Networking with NT and Win 98

I have a LAN working with a NT 4.0 (SP6) machine and two Win 98 machines.
Although the NT machine can see the Win 98 machines' shares quite well, and
can map the drives to itself, I have trouble trying to get a logon from the
Win 98 machines to the NT machine. It seems the NT machine asks for a
password for the IPC$ share, but I see no way to configure the password for
this share, nor to set up an account on the NT machine that will allow NT
to recognize connections from the Win 98 machines and give them access to
this share. I find the NT user manager confusing and not very helpful.

All three machines have the same workgroup name. Would it solve the problem
if I configed the Win 98 machines to log on using a NT domain? If I change
over one of the current Win 98 machines to NT, how can I then make sure
that the LAN connection will still work?
