Wilst cleaning out the barn, I found various gun stuff. So now I have
several questions for y'all.
1. Found a garand clip with 30-06 ammo in it, but instead of bullets,
it's got what looks like red cement about 1/8 inch below the case lip.
Are these blanks or perhaps some special secret stealth type ammo?
Perhaps created during the Phoenix project and worth millions?
2. Found several boxes of unknown age (presumed several years old at
last) primers. Some complete with oil as oil cans had dribbled all over
some of the boxes. So how does one tell if the primers are still good?
And is there a particularly good (see safe) way to destroy them if they
are not good or are dangerous? I would presume that bashing them with a
rock wouldn't be a good way.
3. Found an old can of powder too. Is there any way to determine if
powder is any good still?
And for those of you who have been telling me to take my reloader out of
its box and start reloading shotgun shells, I just went to buy some more
shells. Nearly fainted at the prices they want for a box nowadays!
Unless the price of a bag (or do they come in boxes?) of lead shot makes
me faint worse, I'm going to have to start reloading. I've got
everything except shot. Especially now that I cleaned out the barn.
