Wrong on several counts.

Peer-to-peer is not copyright violation, any more than a gun is murder.

Copyright violation is not piracy. Just because the RIAA says it is doesn't
make it correct in law.

Copyright violation is not illegal. (If it was, the Feds would be issuing
the writs instead of the RIAA.)

Copyright control of a published work is not ownership of intellectual property.

I realise there are moves afoot to change these situations, but hopefully
there are still some US politicians with more common sense than a desire to
line their pockets with silver.

It's ironic that people who are too smart to engage in politics are
governed by people who are not as smart.
