The best way to test a v.34 Optima is to drop it under the nearest
bus. You might get some money from those guys who recycle aluminium
cans. Its the only modem I've ever had any problems with. Lots of
failed handshakes. Lots of lost connections (usually within 2 minutes
of a connect). It refuses to talk to lots of other modem. In a word,
