I had heard that Ashcroft was possibly leaving a couple of weeks ago .
Don't recall where but I think it was due to the stress. Didn't he have
Gall Bladder surgery last year ?

I doubt that it will be played up as anything but his choice unless he has
pissed off the boss. Bush is too loyal to his loyal followers to portray
Ashcroft's leaving as an olive branch to anyone ( Unless Ashcroft suggests
it).
