And I know about what I an speaking because I have done so > already. Did ya miss the part where I mentioned Canada? Please don't lump it all together - I'm not in "the States". I ship custom-assembled PC's all over North America, and to date, I've had ONE hardware failure that I've had to replace - and that was only because UPS dropped the computer off the back of their truck or something, and completely demolished it. The 800g copper/aluminum CPU heat sink snapped off the socket and tumbled around inside, scrapping the motherboard, RAM, video card, and pretty much everything else it smacked into. The CD-ROM drive was wedged into it's slot so hard it practically took a crowbar to remove it. Certainly not "the norm" for shipping and handling! If built and tested properly, if packaged properly for shipping - well, there's no issues. With a proper burn-in test, we do all we can, and send it on its way. I'm not trying to say that it's impossible to have problems occur - laptops certainly get more abuse and handling than a desktop machine, but the shipping to/from North America to Europe is the least of your worries. (Just ask the guy I saw who left his laptop running on the roof of his BMW and started driving down the street! He stopped the car, but the laptop kept on going....) >> hours to Montreal and try it in their lab... though they had no problem >> offering me a small discount to BUY one of every model, so I could test >> them out! >> >> > Well, that is what trade is about, isn't it? :-) Hard to develop a market in a very small market (like eCS laptop sales) when you're expected to BUY one of everything a vendor makes in order to test it. They really don't seem interested unless you can tell them how many units you're going to ship if it works. I suppose I could make up a number, but I really wouldn't be fooling anyone. -Derek -- Derek W.
