Pros and cons; I have one here undergoing testing before I install it. So
far the newer ones will not take any of the modified for Austel SDLs, so
you are stuck with a significantly older DSP code (AFAIK, there is only one
SDL available for this model), which doesn't give as much diagnostic
details and doesn't allow signal level fixing. Reception has definitely
improved, but transmission is so so, improved for one, not for others (some
saw a drop).

I have to say I'm tempted, but I have just also upgraded the chip in my
Deskporte FAST, so I already have two v.34s here. I need to also test a new
Hayes Optima v.34 for another site, which should be interesting comparing
the three modems. Certainly v.34 with MNP 10 (interesting combo) to another
Microcom works well.
