_Before_ installing SUSE prepare 1 partition (5 GB) for Linux itself 
(type 83), and 1 partition (1 GB) for Linux Swap (type 82). I prefer to 
do this with DFSee (see http://www.dfsee.com), but partitioners may do 
it as well.
You have to select _expert_mode_ during install.
When SUSE install asks you where to install select the prepared 5GB 
partition.
At some point During the installation phase you are asked which Linux 
bootloader to install (select Grub) and where to install it. Choose 
'root partition' not MBR (Master Boot Record).

When it goes wrong your old partitions won't be damaged and you can 
always reinstall OS/2 bootmanager, only your Linux partition won't be 
bootable.....
