I had the same sort of problem with my Roadster 288 that was bought new 
about that time. After returning it a couple of times I suggested that they
use real world conditions for their tests and sent it back again. This time
they replaced the circuit board. It works fine now for ordinary use but WON'T
do EMSI handshaking so is useless for running my BBS with. Call NetComm to 
arange a return and repair under waranty, don't let them fob you of with dodgy
Init strings, its a waste of time.
