subject: Echo policy on some Topics

It has been asked of the Moderators that we clarify our position on
discussions of Amway, Shaklee, and other Multi-Level Marketing companies and
to express why we categorically ban all discussions of their products which
some feel are within the echo's stated focus of "more bang for the buck".
Although we do feel that a open and free discussion of products from these
companies are suited for discussion and could be beneficial to the echo's
participants, it has been our experience that such discussions can not remain
on the topic of the products themselves and soon become emotionally charged
arguments of corporate business practices and methodologies.
As such, and the Moderator's desire to provide a place for the open
discussion of existing products and services, we regrettably find that we can
not allow discussions of products from these companies.
We also understand that from time to time other companies will come "under
fire" for their business practices, methods, and marketing practices. Such
cases are handled by the Moderators on a case by case basis with the
individual writers of such messages via NetMail. Under no circumstances are
such discussions considered on-topic for any company.
Thanks
