You could create a client that displays exactly how you want.... Perhaps
using a combination of the time and the references fields?

Back in 1985 the average news client was running on a big Unix box working
with a terminal. The date would have been as correct as that at the local
server, if you weren't running on the same machine as the local server. And
when you have a bunch of servers all over the world accepting postings you
will still get differences in the time...
