I have no trouble with 80x24 full screen with mTel with a LCD.  Just have to 
make a DOS session full screen and call mTel from it.  Also, the weird chars 
is caused by some "odd" video cards.  I've had that issue over
the years, and 
a good ol 'swap out' fixed it. ;)
