Have you actually experienced this too, or are you having at me.
I have been saying the above for 18 months.

David, are you still using the "enhanched" 1/11 code in your
Courier?
This may well mean that you are actually using the service detection
code that was written for US/Canada and the Austel code has really
been reworked specially for Australia.
That is if your modem never skipped a beat when it used the Austel
code...
