I guess every state has their own laws on this.

Oh ok. She did inform the school the kids would be out then??? That would be
acceptable here too. I do know that if a kid is absent for any reason a certain
amount of days though they have to hold the kid back in the same grade. That
would be excused or non-excused absents. The only way to get around that is for
the parents to get a tutor for the kid to do the school work while they were
out.
