This is so from the CPU fan, except that the + and - plug also has an 
empty third position. There is a single wire plug from the CPU, but it 
has empty first and second positions.

No, nothing like that, just the two three-position plugs as I described.

The CPU is taking up two MB "monitored" plug, so there is no way to plug 
in the PS monitor lead. That is the problem, I think. Why wads the CPU 
cooler designed this way!
