subject: Re: [OS2HW] Internal USB Device...?

Hello
Just a heads up regarding Vista "Ready Boost". Recently 2
highly regarded, power user oriented pc magazines ran a shootout of USB
flash NAND ram devices supposedly especially made, or at least advertised,
for Ready Boost usage. In every case performance was more enhanced by
spending the same or even less on simply adding more RAM. At some levels
of RAM and with some hard drives performance was actually reduced by Ready
Boost. Yet another empty promise from Vista! Theoretically it should have
some advantage so maybe they will work out the bugs but presently this is
just more bogus hype.

Incidentally I have seen some adaptors that utilize internal USB
connector on add-in PCI cards to connect to the female header of
front-of-case mounted USB connectors. Additionally I have hacked my own on
older boxes as front mounting is just so convenient in many cases
