I've been trying to test each one under Searchlight BBS but forget to do it a lot some months. But most of the ones that are in development now, I have tested under SBBS so I know they will work over a telnet connection. I've been told that some of my igms crash for some reason, but have no relevant info on the situation to use in an investigation. Just knowing that an igm crashes doesn't help a programmer after all. There's just too many situations you may not have even though of which can happen on another person's computers to be able to program for lots of possible crash-causing events. That's the biggest trouble of people who use a LORD igm not contacting the program's author directly and telling them about the problems. Or they won't use the Fidonet echoes to contact you for assistance. I've rewritten Forest Outhouse, LORD Cavern, and Outlands Tavern so that they use the Lord path as a variable on their command line in the LORD 3rdparty.dat file. If people don't read the igm docs, and just blindly install a new version, sometimes changes like that can cause the igm to not work/crash. I have always hated the fact that so many people simply refuse to aid a programmer no matter WHAT kind of program they write. Even before I started doing Lord igm programming on my own, I knew of over two dozen Lord authors who had given up on the BBS programming work simply because no one ever told them anything about how their programs worked - or didn't work. And I suppose that eventually will be the primary reason that the few of us who still care about LORD finally give up on the game altogether.
