subject: An Opus rising ...

In the last few days I have been talking via email with a handful of Opus
veterans and arrogant hacker types in Taiwan, Portugal, United Kingdom, USA,
Switzerland and Norway with a view to organising a new Opus release sometime
in 1997.
Tonight I received an email response from Wynn Wagner III (the copyright
holder) giving his permission for mounting such an effort. He also wondered
whether anyone was still interested in Opus ... a valid enough query.
So, before I and others invest significant effort in embarking on such an
undertaking, now is the time for *you* to make your presence felt. A short
message mentioning the following details would be very helpful:
 * Version of Opus you are running =or= name and version of
   your current BBS software.
 * Frontend mailer being used (if not Opus).
 * Echomail processor (if not Opus).
 * Your current operating system (eg DOS, OS/2, Win3.1,
   Win95, WinNT).
 * Your network operating system, if any (eg Windows,
Lantastic, Novell, Banyan Vines, OS/2 peer).
 * Your model of PC (XT, AT, 386, 486, 6x86, Pentium).
 * Amount of RAM.
 * Whether you have written an Opus utility.
 * Whether you have been an Opus alpha/beta/gamma tester.
 * Your _preferred_ operating system (for future plans).
 * Your Internet address, if any.
I guess you can enter the message in this echo, or netmail me at 3:711/401 or
email me at trev@ibm.net.
Stop! No! Don't ask - it'll be ready when it's ready :-)
