BN> Looking like a cross between a child's scooter and a Gay '90s
BN> highwheel bike, kickbikes have become a common sight on
BN> Helsinki's strets.
Nothing new. Back in the 30's and 40's there was a combination
Bike-Scooter around. It had a regular bike wheel in front and
another on the rear. The rear one had the hub mounted off center
so that when you stepped upon the Scooter floorboard the rear
wheel was rotated by your weight and the off center hub
acted as a sprocket. You just got your self in synch with the
up and down motion of the Scooter Floor Board. By gently
alternating your downward pressure on the floorboard whenever
the rear hub was in the forward part of its motion it propelled
you down the street. Was a little funny looking. To see someone
bobbing up and down and scooting down the sidewalk.
