Do they have any confidence in the voting system ? Do they even want this
goverment ? If the people don't feel they have a stake in it then can it
succeed ? Some of the blogs there are now writing of the good old days
before the US came in.

No but we also have confidence in our system. We also had a LOT of lawyers
there to prevent some of the challengers and there were people who found
they were not registered.  We don't have an active uprising or an occupying
power here either. I don't know if the elections will actually be held and
work or not. Unless the Iraqi people buy onto the idea elections will not
work though.
