Back in the 80s, when "they" decided it was time for buck a
gallon gas and did their initial overshoot to $1.25/1.35 or so, the local
Shell station changed to liters at the pump. It didn't take. No one liked
having to figure out what they were getting and his signs on the street,
say .31, just made everyone think he ran out of 1s and was asking
$1.31/gallon vs. the equivilent $1.17
