EOF is an integer input; not a char. Its value depends on the
implementation. It is usually defined in stdio.h.
The translation of keystrokes is up to the operating system. Ctrl-Z and
ctrl-D are used in cp/m and dos and mp/m and unix respectively. You pays
your penny and you takes your choice.
