subject: 33600 connects

Hello Andrew.

Replying to a message from Andrew Blume to John Piper ...

JP> On the few occasions I've attempted to crashmail you, I've had an
JP> awful time trying to connect. However, strangely enough, when you
JP> dial my system, there doesn't seem to be any problem.

AB> Interesting. You are the only person who has ever reported a problem
AB> to me about it. Other USR owners say that they often have the best
 AB> connect to my system.

AB> Possibly it could be the telephone lines?

Certainly not at this end. I'm ~600-700 metres away from my exchange.
Russell Brooks recently dialled my system from Mossman, FNQ, and we
sustained a 33600 connection in both directions. If my phone line
conditions were anything less than ideal, that wouldn't have been possible.
