subject: Trunk Tracking Scanner

Has your community already moved to 800 MHZ. Trunking or planning to
move to 800 MHZ. Trunking. Anyone who has tried to follow a Trunked
Police, Fire, etc, system knows it is not easy.
What is needed is a scanner that can "follow" a trunked conversation as
it changes frequencies. Up to the present, such a scanner is not
available. But this might change next year when such a scanner is
to be displayed at the CES in Las Vegas in January 1997.

Okay folks,
I just returned from the Grove Expo, and yesterday, during his seminar,
Richard Barnett (publisher of Monitor America and Scanner Master frequency
guides) announced publicly that Uniden will show its trunking compatible
scanner at the CES in Las Vegas in January. Barnett is a member of Uniden's
design team, and he has apparently been beta testing one of the prototypes
for some time. He would release no other information except that is a
handheld, saying confirmation of the radio's existance is the only thing
Uniden would authorize him to say.
During a conversation with Bob Grove, he told me there is also a trunking
compatible software package coming to market very soon. This is something he
has seen personnaly and plans to sell through Grove Enterprises. He also
said either AOR or ICOM is also introducing a trunking compatible scanner
within the next few months, but he said dealership agreements prevented him
from being more specific. Since I was told that AOR reps were showing a
trunking compatible scanner to a select few folks back in April at the
Dayton Hamvention I'd put my money on AOR.

Does anyone know if the AOR scanner just mentioned is the model
AOR AR 16 scanner that will be released by early 1997 ?
