It wasn't an item we could disable on the copiers we had. I guess they went
to the two prong counterfeit deterrent system several years ago

Over the past several years, Xerox has invested in anti-counterfeiting
technology designed to recognize a banknote and prevent the machine from
copying it. However, even where this is not possible, Xerox's Counterfeit
Deterrent Marking System will encode every sheet produced with a secret
mark that will allow the authorities to trace the machine on which it was
produced. Organizations with a Xerox colour copier linked to a network
could even trace the individual that made the copy.
