Hoping that my Partzheimers is not getting the best of me, it seems that 
I remember way back when 2.0 devices started appearing on the market, 
that there was some noise about old cables not working with the new 
devices. I have a couple of cables from recently purchased devices which 
definitely say "USB 2.0".

BTW, I did google, but didn't learn anything from it, other than that 
there is a response time delay maximum. Possibly some of the really 
early cables for slower devices were OK, but not in spec for newer devices.
