I agree with Jeff, but find a laser useful under any and all conditions of
indoor illumination for evaluating polish. You can use it on a mirror
that's been wiped off with the rinse water still pooled on it, this seems
to give the best results...if you see the beam only on the water interface
your glass is well polished.
