The first part stays truer to the novel than Stanley Kubrick's film....I 
happen to like the film version due to the performances of the actor but I 
hated the change from the book...especially replacing the hedge animals with 
the maze and the senseless death of Holleran (played by Scatman Crothers 
(sp)....
Even though the shining has made the transaction to television Kings says he 
likes this version and hated the film.
